Corn

Githigo maize is a traditional variety cultivated by the Gikuyu community in central Kenya . The stalks are taller than common maize and have larger white, red, or purple kernels These larger kernels are ideal for making githeri, a popular Kenyan dish of boiled maize .and beans. However, in general it thrives in warm seasons needing at least 10°C for germination . Well-drained, fertile soil with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5 is ideal.
