Njahi Black (Black Lablab Bean) A heat-loving legume variety featuring distinctive black seeds and vigorous climbing growth habit. Germination occurs within 7-12 days at temperatures between 68-86°F with seeds remaining viable for 3 years when properly stored. Plant 1 inch deep with 12-18 inch spacing in zones 9-11. Matures in 80-100 days for green pods or 130-160 days for dried beans. Demonstrates excellent resistance to aphids and bean rust. Special characteristics include exceptional drought recovery, higher antioxidant content than lighter-colored varieties, prolific flowering that attracts pollinators, and ability to produce on marginal soils with pH 5.5-7.5.
